  Initially on a contract basis, I was hired as a senior Server/Windows Engineer. I was part of a team which manages and supports the Server Environment, including Citrix, Exchange and in house applications primarily for our European offices. This includes building, racking and day to day administration of the Server Infrastructure. The server team is also the escalation point for the 1st and 2nd line support teams. I was offered a permanent position in April 2006. Some of the projects I was involved in are;- VMware (Global) - I was the lead engineer for VMware. Obtained VCP Certification.- Citrix Metaframe FR4 (Global) – I engineered & documented the server build for global deployment- App/Web Farm server migration (Europe) – Organising application move to new physical & virtual machines- Microsoft SP1 & R2 upgrades (Europe) – Managed upgrade of over 100 servers- System State backups (Global)- Server refresh project (Europe) – Replacing NT4 servers (Utilising VMware where possible) Show less

  Senior Virtualisation Specialist

  In my role as Senior Virtualisation Specialist, I supported a number of New Zealand and Australian based accounts. I was responsible for day to day support as well as project delivery. I was also required to critique project plans and suggest architectural changes for the VMware environments I support and administer.During my time with IBM I was heavily involved in numerous projects, requiring me to take on differing roles, over and above my primary subject matter expert role.As an example, a major New Zealand banking organisation, whom I supported, instigated a project to upgrade their current VMware environment (Version 4 to Version 5). As the SME for the account I was responsible for leading the project from a technical capacity. This included the information gathering phase, writing design documentation and deployment. I was also required to meet with the customer regularly to present project status updates. The project was delivered successfully with excellent customer feedback.In December 2014 we decided to move back to Ireland, however IBM asked me to continue to support customers remotely, which I did until October 2015.
