Texas has over 5,000 species of native plants. Because of its size and geography, it is one of the most biologically diverse states, with forests, deserts, mountains, hills, prairies and coastal plains. The Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) works to protect our state’s native plant heritage and preserve it for future generations. A non-profit organization led by volunteers, NPSOT sponsors educational programs, workshops, demonstration gardens and many other types of projects.A member of the Trinity Forks Chapter, I am also an instructor for NPSOT's Native Landscape Certification Program. • Texas Master Naturalist Program

      Jan 2018 - now

The Texas Master Naturalist Program’s mission is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities for the State of Texas. Many communities and organizations rely on such citizen volunteers for implementing youth education programs; for operating parks, nature centers, and natural areas; and for providing leadership in local natural resource conservation efforts. In fact, a short supply of dedicated and well-informed volunteers is often cited as a limiting factor for community-based conservation efforts. The Texas Master Naturalist program is a partnership between the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and other local partners. The Elm Fork Chapter serves Denton, Cooke and Wise counties. Show less
