My duties would vary from shift to shift depending on the needs of the company and would adapt quickly between roles in order to prioritise appropriately- committing 20+ hours a week alongside A-Level studies.

  Work experience with re.group’s laboratory where I joined the team collecting oil samples and performing many tests on the samples in order to determine whether the oil was fit for recycling. I was shown by a mentor how to perform various tests and became confident in the reasoning and process very quickly. Despite only being there on a volunteer opportunity I performed tests independently regularly (where my data was recorded and used) in order to be a valuable team member and received amazing feedback from my seniors. Developed an excellent relationship with regular customers and often return to fill-in shifts during breaks from university when high-demand and staff shortages are anticipated.

  With the support of a mentor and many training sessions, I developed my teaching ability from no experience to capable of planning and delivering full lessons and receiving positive feedback on them. Due to all interns having to self-isolate for the final 2 weeks, I focused my learning on planning aspects of teaching, especially with schemes of learning and the wider picture. In order to get the most out of my experience I took part in a further 3 weeks in 2022 where I focused on delivering lessons more independently. I created and achieved a personal goal of planning and delivering a full day of lessons by the end of the scheme and received incredible feedback from both teachers and students. Show less

  Part of a team delivering Maths Outreach workshops such as "Maths club", for secondary-age students to enjoy extra-curricular maths lectures and a university experience. We also deliver a Problem solving class for sixth-form students to develop their understanding of A-Level content and prepare them for entrance exams for universities. The program also takes place online where I take responsibility for part of each session by talking through each problem step by step and encouraging students to take the lead. Show less
