  • Successfully conjugated a variety of bacteriophage-resistance-encoding plasmids via food-grade means to generate three novel bacterial strains of high value to industry.• Deconstructed four undefined, mesophilic, bulk, dairy starter cultures, revealing strains encoding phage resistance and other valuable traits for my industrial employers.• Characterised the genomes of five previously unknown Streptococcus thermophilus bacteriophages, contributing valuable data toward future phage defence strategies.• Created a comprehensive literature review on Streptococcus thermophilus bacteriophages and the species’ bacteriophage defence mechanisms.• Designed primers using biostatistical software to successfully close a gap in bacteriophage genome sequencing results, yielding valuable insights.• Successfully managed a laboratory, including requisition of supplies, organising SOP's, maintaining an aseptic environment, testing / retesting, assisting co-workers, etc.• Contributed directly to at least three other colleagues’ theses and additional projects by assisting their work and sharing expertise in culturing and characterisation assays.Key Achievement:• Received Research M.Sc. ‘Genomics of Dairy Starter Cultures and their Bacteriophages’.   Small business owner. My first online business venture was an animated explainer video agency, which I created at the end of 2018. I joined a global online business mastermind to learn about marketing, sales, project management and delivery. I acted innovatively, applying what I was learning in the market as I went, successfully building a team of animators, scriptwriters, and voiceover artists who completed a variety of projects for clients in Ireland, the UK, the US, and Canada. Collaborating together seamlessly online through Slack, Zoom, G Suite, and other software, we produced high quality corporate animations that helped our clients convey their business services, improve branding, and ultimately win new clientele. I learned a great deal about marketing, sales, online business, managing a team, and satisfying my clients through this experience, which I am excited to combine with my scientific background and apply in my ongoing career.
