    • Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati

      Jul 2011 - Nov 2020

Area of Research: Active Matter, Self-Propelling synthetic Microengines and micro/nanomachines.• Research Activities: (1) Demonstration of non-biological pH taxis of polymeric magneto-catalytic microbots. The bots were applied to sense the pH gradient while in motion. The motor size, strength of magnetic field and the imposed pH gradient were modulated to characterize the behavior and velocity of the pH driven microswimmers. (2) Acid driven magneto-responsive polymeric microbots for fuel cell applications. (3) Facile lithography-free fabrication of paper-based tubular microengines for cargo transportation and drug delivery (4) Graphene-based micromotors and (5) Doxorubicin loaded Mushroom-based magnetic biomotors for anticancer therapy.• Oral and poster presentations at several international conferences and meetings.• Publication of papers in peer review journals.• Implemented protocols for facile and clean-room free fabrication of micro/nanobots.• Independent handling, management and execution of several projects.• Helping PhD students with their projects.• Received DST-SERB International Travel grant to attend the International Symposium on Micro- and Nanomachines, Germany, 2016. Oct 2018 - Nov 2020
      • Doctoral Researcher (Ph.D.), Center for Nanotechnology

        Jul 2011 - Oct 2018
    • IIT Kharagpur

      May 2017 - May 2017
      Summer Internship

The training developed vivid insight about the application of Nano-Biotechnology in Healthcare. Besides, we learned about the application of Microfluidics and BIOMEMS in the health sector and the tools and techniques required to fabricate micro and nano devices.

    • George Mason University

      May 2022 - now
      Postdoctoral Research Fellow

My current postdoctoral research focuses on two areas of micro(nano)robotics application – (1) Therapeutics: I am analysing the extracellular matrix (ECM) signalling cues in the hydrogels derived from patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and investigating the possible use of drug-laden magnetic micro(nano)robotics for IPF treatment. The goal is to examine how the rheology, and structure of IPF ECM impact the speed at which drug-loaded magnetic micro(nano)robotics move within IPF ECM hydrogels and alter cell signalling compared to normal lung ECM matrix; and (2) Clean water technologies: involving the development of plant-derived magnetic microbots for removing emerging water contaminants such as microplastics, oil spills, and endocrine disruptors.
