From a family business to commercial real estate was an interesting transition at 39 years old! If one was to take all one’s life experiences, from childhood through adulthood, this new experience was one to behold. It was a challenge that I was willing to accept and jumped in with both feet. Although retail had been my background the need was for an industrial specialist. With the little knowledge I had of industrial properties, I spent three months learning everything I could about industrial properties. I spoke with owners, developers and brokers. Whoever would provide an in site to this new world of mine was greatly appreciate. Within a short amount of time I was able to become an advisor and would enter into each transaction with market knowledge to assist my client in their decision making process. Being recognized a one of the top 5 brokers in the firm was a testament to my desire to be the best that I could be. Show less

Change is always good. One learns through change! After my 11 year career at Colliers I thought it was time to see commercial real estate from a different perspective. My clients were making a transition to purchasing office building in suburban submarkets and asked that I represent them in leasing their properties. With the same tenacity that I had when it was necessary to learn about industrial properties I brought to learning about office properties. The firm also had a need for someone who could assist clients with their industrial and office requirement. The change in firms also afforded me the opportunity to sell a commercial property. That experience has grown over the years and one never forgets ones first experience. Show less

The entrepreneurial spirit came over me! After 13 years in commercial real estate I thought, along with other friends that it was time to venture into our own commercial real estate company. With a strong background in leasing and sales of industrial, office properties this venture would provide additional opportunities. And it did! After communicating with an intuitional owner for many years, our firm was given the leasing assignment for a major office building. The carrot being dangled was that if the occupancy could be brought from 55% to 95% we would be given the opportunity to sell the property. Within an 18 month period, our marketing skills brought the property to the sales goal of 95%. Now it was time to find an intuitional buyer. Again our marketing skills were able to provide the ownership with several buyers to purchase the building. It remains as one of the major sales in my commercial real estate career. Our success brought the attention of several national commercial real estate companies who possessed an interested in purchasing our firm. After reviewing the opportunities it was decided by all the partners to accept the purchase offer of Prudential. Show less

      Executive Vice President

Another change for the better. With a national commercial real estate company with a very recognizable name we believed that it would be to our client’s advantage to better market their properties. With the Prudential name we were able to open doors that heretofore we might not have had the same opportunity. As we were marketing ourselves via the Prudential brand it started to became clear that the national office wasn’t responsive in supporting the local office. And then it became clear that the local office was not providing the services and support that it had promised. For the benefit of our long term clients a decision needed to be made – stay with the Prudential brand or go back to the entrepreneurial way. The later was the winner. Show less

      Apr 2008 - Oct 2012
      Principal/Partner

Back on our own! A minor name change was necessary but the service and values that we were known for in the industry remained. We were once again able to provide our clients with the advice that they needed during the turbulent economic climate. As the deals began to slow it was important that we guide our clients through what the market conditions were and what would be needed to close a transaction. We were able to tap into some of the bank and lender business as they were being besieged with givebacks and take backs of commercial property. We became a commercial real estate advisor to clients be they local, regional or national. Every market had its own set of issues and via our SIOR and CCIM network we were able to provide required direction in each particular market segment. Once again our reputation made us a target for absorption and when Colliers International South Florida reached out to speak with us, we listened. The platform had changed dramatically from what it was in the late 80’s and it was a significant powerhouse driven by a public company. Show less
