      Peer Teacher

As a peer teacher for a transitional kindergarten class, I led a variety of classroom activities, whether it be one-on-one work with a student or guidance directed to the entire class. Being a high school student at the time, the 4 to 5-year-old children in that class looked up to me every day to have an impressionable, positive attitude and a willingness to help. My passion for children made this come naturally, and I am very grateful to have had this career-exploratory opportunity.

I submitted sets of online job applications with variations in gender and race to collect data for her study. This position required time management and organizational skills.

    • Association for Community Empowerment Solutions

      Aug 2022 - Jun 2023
Intern: International Program Documentation Team Lead

At ACESWorld, I began as a general intern, then was promoted to Team Lead of the Communications team before being selected as the International Program Documentation Team Lead, responsible for documentation of the ASK4Girls Club in Ghana. ACES World’s mission is to “accelerate learning, earning, and agency of adolescent girls and women and to end global poverty by removing barriers to health, education, and agency”. The ASK4Girls club informs girls of various ages about gender and reproductive health, including menstruation, HIV, and sexual assault, ultimately teaching girls about their human rights and self-worth. The valuable instruction that ACES World provides educates young women about reproductive health and the menstrual cycle, breaking the stigma that acts as a barrier for many communities of women. • Bowman Charter School

      Sept 2022 - now

I have been student teaching in 5th grade at Bowman Charter School since mid-January. Through this experience, I have gained direct experience in lesson planning, instruction, assessment, and classroom and behavior management. I developed and implemented individualized and differentiated instruction for diverse learners following the principles of UDL. Collecting a wide variety of assessment data helped to inform my planning and maximize student learning. I have become familiar with the district’s grading software, Aeries, and participated in professional collaboration and development opportunities. Participating in and leading a structured and positive learning environment has been an incredible opportunity for personal growth. Show less For the past few months, I have served as a substitute teacher for local K-12 schools, including Bowman Charter School and the Auburn Union School District. I enjoy establishing bonds with young students and fostering a learning environment of energy and excitement towards the daily lessons. Even as a substitute, I recognize the rewarding nature of teaching, despite the daily challenges that must be navigated as a new adult walking into a room of children used to a teacher and a routine. Each day, I continue to develop skills in classroom management, learn more about the school systems in my area, and become more driven to learn more about elementary education. Show less
