  I studied the effect that the popular Ayurvedic plant “Mandukaparni” (Centella asiatica) extract has on the human neuroblastoma cell line (SH SY5Y). For studying the effects of the plant extract I have performed a myriad of assays ranging from Photometric assays (MTT, Protein estimation, Antioxidant property estimation & Autophagy) to Flow Cytometric assays (Cell cycle analysis, Apoptosis & Mitochondrial function assay). Furthermore, I am performing Molecular Docking and pathway analysis to look for the molecular basis of the alleged ayurvedic properties of the herb.   I worked on multiple projects using S.cerevisiae (BY4741) as model organism. we identified a key protein that is hypermethylated by the Arginine Methylatranfease - HMT1. Furthermore, I have had attempting to overexpress a putative arginine methyltransferase in E.coli.During my tenure, I learnt and used many techniques, such as Cell lysis by bead beating, Western Blotting, Flow Cytometry, Agarose gel electrophoresis, Site directed mutagenesis, Primer designing, Plasmid Transfection, making competent E.coli, protein purification using Nickel-NTA beads.
