      First Female Electronic Maintenance Technician

When you break a glass ceiling, expect to get cut. Victim of many pranks and embarrassments, I was the first woman to work as a maintenance technician in the old world of last century. Young, brash, and stupid, I survived the experience while seeing the wonders of growing silicon rods from nuggets, sparking plasmas with gasses and electricity, and submicron level manufacturing. It was worth the bad things!

      IT Building and Process Support

Building wide support for both manufacturing and educational facilities. Network responsibility, hardware, server support, user support. Front line defense, 24-7 help desk answer line was my favorite because I could manifest change: I could teach a user and from that moment on, that user became a more advanced user. Teach them again and they started seeking you out with questions. Answer their questions, show them some tricks, and soon they are training their friends and showing them the tricks and everyone becomes more confident, proud in what they learned, working together and I can close my office door for a short bit to image those final laptops to get out to the sales folk. Product Designer

We are still early in the Industrial age, regardless of how digital we have become. User Interfaces tend to reflect the designer, the same homogenous group of people since the late 1800’s. Only now have we progressed to the point that designers can reflect the users. Pulling on decades of experience in electronic and mechanical engineering, IT and network support, and technical research and publications, Ms. Davis brings a lot of know-how to the question of "how do we?" Excellence in design is easier to achieve when you already live outside the box. Show less
