  The position supervises a mix of up to seven Military, Civilian and Contract (but primarily GS) employees. The section is charged with all planning responsibilities for the installation which comprises 42,000 acres, over 3,000 facilities, and employs 40,000+ personnel. Some sub-areas include Installation Development Planning, Encroachment Management, Project Coordination, and application of the UFC, among others. In addition to the 87th Air Base wing, there are over 80 Federal, State and Private sector organizations on JB MDL, and the 787th CES provides Installation Management (planning) support for the majority of them.
