  After I completed the FRI program, I was selected to continue my original research project on the dispersal of mitochondrial DNA haplogroup W. I reinforced my data analysis skills by utilizing MAFFT and MEGA to align DNA sequences and process them through Haplogrep to create phylogenetic trees. Outside of the lab, I continuously read new journals to stay updated on improved methodology and new findings on haplogroup W dispersal. I have also used my R coding skills to create a haplogroup W dispersal heat map to illustrate our results Show less The Biomedical Anthropology and Neuroscience lab is a BSL 2 lab that researches neurodegenerative diseases. I examined the environmental and cultural factors that have contributed to the increase of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Parkinsonism Dementia. The following year, my research was on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and whether it will cross the species barrier into human populations, demonstrated by Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. I compiled two research posters with my lab partner and presented them at Binghamton University's Research Days and Binghamton Biomedical Research Conference. Show less

  I was elected to a confidential position on the academic committee of my sorority. I would meet with students who received a semester GPA less than 3.0 to discuss how I could support them throughout the semester to raise their GPA. I hosted weekly library hours, and as the only undergraduate research assistant on the committee, I would assist younger students with finding research opportunities on campus. The chapter slated and elected me to serve a one-year term as the risk manager. I was responsible for planning events and ensuring the safety of 200 members through communicating with nationals, filing paperwork, and creating waivers. I attended weekly executive board meetings and assisted board members with their positions to ensure the chapter ran smoothly. I hosted "Stop the Bleed" and cyber safety programming for all chapter members.

  I was elected to represent my organization on the executive board that oversees over 800 members of the Panhellenic Council. Duties included creating programming events, editing bylaws, leading hearings for violations of bylaws, and enforcing sanctions. As a board member, I assisted in running recruitment for 500 undergraduate students and philanthropy events for the entire council. The most meaningful part of this experience was planning and hosting Miss Aphrodite, an event that raised 21,564 dollars for Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Show less
