      Jun 1986 - Sept 2016

In 2013, I moved from the Cleveland Works location to full-time in Alcoa Wheels and Transportation Products Business Unit, which produces commercial vehicle wheels at several locations other than Cleveland (including Hungary, Mexico, China, Japan, for example). My concentration was on capital improvements to increase capacity through major expansions and incremental continual improvements. I lead a project to increase the HT/age capacity 50% in our Monterrey Mexico plant by relocated a HT line from our idled Russia facility to Mexico. I also lead the initiative to specify, build and install new flow forming equipment in Cleveland and Monterrey, a new metal forming process for making wheels. Show less For the next 9 years, I was the Capital Engineering Manager for the entire Cleveland Works plant, with Wheels (Alcoa Wheels and Transportation Products) and Aerospace (Alcoa Forgings and Extrusions) area responsibility. The annual capital budget averaged $25m. The engineering staff which I managed consisted of approximately 12 Alcoa engineers, plus a multitude of on-site contract project engineers and designers. For the last 6 months of this time, I also had the plant’s process engineers reporting to me. Along with performing all administrative responsibilities for the group, I lead a team which started analyzing the manufacturing steps and costs for many of the plant’s higher volume production jobs. Several steps were removed or processes changed, resulting in lowering operating costs. My reporting method was adopted by the AFE BU at other locations. Show less In 1998, I was promoted to the newly-created position of Maintenance Manager for the Wheel organization, reporting to the Cleveland Works Maintenance and Facility Manager. This was a new direction Alcoa was taking where it put a high emphasis on maintenance concepts. During these years, I learned a great deal, not only maintenance techniques and philosophies, but also working with other managers, supervisors, engineers/technicians, and the hourly workforce. I also learned much while working with the Skilled Trades organization (Cleveland Works being a UAW shop). I managed the Wheels maintenance budget of just over $1m per month. New programs I instituted were daily check lists, daily work schedules, standardized work procedures, a work ticket board, and worked with the plant-wide maintenance organization to reinstitute the PdM program. My emphasis in the Wheels area lead to approximately $5 savings per $1 PdM spent. The equipment’s high OEE (forge lines at 85% and HT/age lines at 97%) was a result of quickly responding to issues and being flexible to changing priorities. I performed this function until 2004. Show less My career started as a plant/project engineer immediately after finishing my BS in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1986. In this role, I executed small capital projects, and supported Production and Maintenance operations. It was a combination of project engineer, reliability engineer, and maintenance engineer. During these years I also earned my MS in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University, and my PE from the State of Ohio. Within 10 years, I started supervising other engineers while working in the Wheels organization. Show less

Cuyahoga Community College comprises over 11 locations totaling 540 acres, 50 buildings and an asset base of $900M. I direct the planning, design and construction of capital improvement projects at any of Tri-C campuses. Management of projects that may involve multiple disciplines of planning, engineering, architecture, landscape, interior design, estimating, scheduling, program management, and project management. I ensure compliance with State of Ohio, College and internal departmental procedures. Projects completed to date include the new STEM building and Advanced Automotive Technology Center expansions at West Campus, and various facility upgrades.Currently I'm working on facility upgrades at the East Campus in Highland Hills. This is a multi-year project which is upgrading the campus facility as part of the College's Master plan upgrade. Features of this include a new loop road, parking, main walking spine, landscaping and a central green space. Infrastructure improvements are being added to support future building expansions.
