    • Dean Machine Incorporated

      Dec 1984 - now
      President / General Manager

Purchased a 2 person manual job-shop and grew the company to $4 million annual revenue with 48 employees over 12 years. Introduced the first CNC turning center 2 years after acquisition and continued expansion averaging 1 new machine per year for the next 25 years. Moved from stand alone vertical machining centers to cells of high speed, pallet-changer verticals and multi-pallet horizontal machining centers. Turning capacity also expanded to include 10 turn-mill centers with 4-axis, twin spindle / twin turret bar-fed cells with "lights-out" capability.Developed and mentored a highly successful staff of 8 industry professionals through which we instituted support systems such as the selection and implementation of E2 ShopTech ERP system and an ISO / ITAR compliant quality assurance system. I introduced modern manufacturing methodologies such as Lean / 6 Sigma, 5S, Gemba Walks and daily team meetings.Primary responsibility for all engineering functions as well as direction and mentoring of sales, accounting, purchasing, quality and production planning personnel.I developed curriculums with which I trained over 60 machinists in Mazak's Mazatrol CNC programming language and modern Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing practices. Our quality capabilities at my direction included highly trained inspectors fully trained in the use of our programmable CMM's and the maintenance of our calibration and gage control systems.
