Assist PhD students as they develop gene based therapies that leverage cell mechanotransduction and perform cell culture, plasmid isolation, EMSA, and other genetic engineering lab techniques. Manage independent projects focusing on mechanotransduction signaling pathways:Project 1: “Stiffness dependence of Smad2/3-LEMD3 complex due to YAP/TAZ signaling” (Fall 2018): My work focused on determining the role of YAP and TAZ in the stiffness dependence of the TGF-ß pathway using a proximity ligation assay and confocal imaging.Project 2: “Mechanotransduction of Nuclear Membrane” (Spring 2019-Spring 2020): My work focuses on identifying a novel mechanotransduction protein pathway through computational protein analysis to visualize relevant proteins and experimental techniques such as western blotting, immunofluorescence, knockdown studies, and a magnetic precipitation assay to identify these proteins in vitro. Show less Current Research in Regenerative Medicine Student-Taught ClassCo-teach and lead 40 students in discussion on primary and review articles. Plan class material, organize guest lecturers and workshops, and formulate and redesign class structure in response to quizzes. We strive to encourage involvement in undergraduate research through lab demonstrations and peer guidance, as well as, formulate an introduction to the breadth of biomedical engineering to first year students, who had not been previously exposed to the material. Jun 2018 - Aug 2019
      Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Intern

Work on a project to develop an interlaboratory study on cell viability along with industry experts and professionals to establish a standard practice in tissue engineering by performing relevant wet lab experiments, including cell culture and multiple assays, along with the required data analysis. Participate in the summer colloquium and present research findings to NIST employees, fellow interns, and colloquium guests.Project: “Establishing reliable methods for measuring cell viability in tissue engineered scaffolds” (Summer 2018-Summer 2019): My work focused on the validation of two cell viability assays on two common biomaterial scaffolds. Currently preparing a publication to submit in a peer-reviewed journal. Show less
