I am a free-lance conservator of works of art on paper and photographs, specialising in the conservation of art from India, South-east Asia and the Himalayas.I graduated from the University of Northumbria in 1984 with a diploma in the conservation of fine art and since then I have worked for museums and historic houses in the UK, New Zealand, USA and India. I have been based in London since my return to the UK in 1995.After 17 years working as a Senior Conservator for the Victoria and Albert Museum, I now work on mainly Asian art as Consultant for the Indian and Himalayan Art Conservation Centre. Based in the City of London, I carry out conservation in the studio as well as consulting and working on site in a number of locations in London and the South east of England. I am available at short notice, to do appraisals of works of art for sale at auction, to do condition reporting for exhibitions, or to assist with installations. I have thirty seven years experience working with major museums in the UK and abroad.Throughout my career I have had a strong commitment to working alongside fellow museum professionals in developing countries and continue to teach and train conservators. I have worked in India, Nepal, Egypt and most recently in Ethiopia. Show less
