      Manager and then owner of this weather forecasting service providing precision (micro-scale) forecasts and warnings to to high-end customers. I bought the company in 1992 and sold it to an investor in 1994. The company was sold in 1995 to an east coast firm. I managed all aspects of the operation, leading the science and sales staff. Clients included major power utilities, large construction projects (some of the tallest buildings in the Twin Cities and the Mall of America), large snow plow companies, government agencies, golf courses, outdoor entertainment venues, as well as major motion pictures. Other clients included specialized farming operations (sugar beets, celery, livestock) and commodities brokers. I also provided long-range (1 week to 6 month) forecasts to clients, provided short term forecasts in support of the research projects of others, advised a Congressman on policy issues, and responded to state RFPs.       Supervisory meteorologist for the company's global forecast operation's staff of 35, providing precision weather forecasts to domestic and international airlines including USAir, Continental and many commuter and cargo airlines, as well as a wide variety of corporate aviation clients including Ford, Honeywell, 3M and General Mills. Provided global terminal, route weather and ride quality forecasts, and flight following. Represented clients on FAA planning calls and maintained contact with dispatchers. Also forecast for television networks in Spain, Germany, Poland, Indonesia and the Philippines.I was on the company customer satisfaction team, reviewed the department's P&L statements, made budget recommendations, revised the methodology of staff reviews, verification techniques, revised standard operating procedures and on-the-job training. I participated in company project management meetings as we developed in-house forecast model grids and, to a limited extent, our own dual polarity Doppler radar. In addition, I was the liaison to federal and university projects impacting or potentially impacting our business model.Responsible for critical decisions for corporate and commercial flights, forecasting for very remote areas of the world with very little weather data; tropical cyclone forecasting for nearly 200 storms, early adopter of dual-polarity Doppler radar in the 1990s. A retired board Certified Consulting Meteorologist with extensive experience in 30 day to 2 year extreme weather prediction (blizzards, flash floods, high wind events). Also provided consulting services to hedge funds, venture capitalists, equity options traders and commodity traders on how short- and long-term weather will impact business and commodities up to 2 years into the future. I worked on (with others) perfecting detailed precision or micro-scale weather forecasts for highway and building construction, power utilities, golf courses, major motion picture film sets, farms, corporate and commercial aviation, and others to avoid weather delays. My renewable energy experience is with wind turbines.I correlate business with weather to predicting financial impacts on restaurants, retail, transportation, resorts, agriculture, and energy based proprietary outlooks of up to 18 months. GOVERNMENT: State and local task forces, former city environment commissioner, and a corporate liaison to federal projects. I thoroughly enjoy working on policy issues associated with energy, water resources, and transportation.       I was the weekday morning anchor, writer and producer for the one hour newscast and Today Show cut-ins. Ratings increased during my tenure as I worked to make the show relevant to viewers and for those who had the TV on just for the audio as they started their day. I was also the weekday assignment editor, liaison to Dateline NBC and NBC News. Edited newsroom standard operating procedures and implemented social media platforms. In addition, I edited scripts, made story decisions when the day's stories fell through, assigned breaking stories, developed preliminary rundowns for the 5pm show and the next day's 6am news and booked guests. I also did reporting as necessary and mentored reporters. I started out as the weekend meteorologist (hired away from a competitor) and quickly advanced to the morning show. When the morning show news anchor moved on to Portland, Oregon, I volunteered to take over the slot. Other experience includes camera operator, board operator, reporting, video editing.I also was a RTDNA Murrow Award judge in 2008 and 2009. Show less

I researched publicly traded company quarterly reports (Q-10, K-10) and investor conference calls, developing risk profiles and pairing them with my (exclusive) 7-day to 18 - month weather outlooks, giving the findings to licensed advisors who then made stock option recommendations. Equities researched include sporting goods, apparel, automotive, restaurants, farm equipment, agricultural commodities, ski resorts, air and ground transportation, energy, cruise liners, travel, construction, insurance - and a whole lot more.       Tasked with growing the influence of America's Founding Fathers Exhibit, a history and educational site about the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence, I overhauled marketing, enhanced the gift shop and bookstore, and initiated group sales. Programs were redone so they are firmly grounded in the latest historical research. Staff consistently received excellent guest reviews. Three-year revenue growth was 27% overall and 52% on the retail side. The business closed due to COVID19 and sold to a candy store.I manage all aspects of the 9-acre operation - from finances to compliance, the physical facility to human resources and programing displays. As Samuel Adams, I speak about liberty, government, protests, others I worked alongside to restore our rights (liberty) in British America by eventually make the break from Great Britain. I also discuss early government in the Continental Congress.
