    • YWCA of Greater Portland

      Nov 2011 - Jan 2014
      Executive Director

As Executive Director, I led the YWCA of Greater Portland through some significant organizational changes. Successes for the community accomplished by the YWCA team included:-- transferring the YWCA's Camp Westwind summer camp program to the Westward Stewardship Group, helping to ensure Oregon youth will have the opportunity for a Westwind experience-- closing the domestic violence shelter (DV) and moving human and county resources to (when possible) support women and children to stay housed, after housing has been destabilized due to DV-- starting a Social Justice training program to influence individual beliefs, attitudes, knowledge about racial and gender inequalities, and skills to discuss and interrupt racism-- subcontracting the county-funded program supporting low-income seniors with resources that help them to age-in-place for as long as possible-- cleaning out the 72,000 SF, 56-year-old-home on 10th avenue -- liquidating the remaining YWCA properties to pay City encumbrances to avoid foreclosure-- partner with a larger human services nonprofit to operate the YWCA under a management agreement (YWCA now managed and led by Impact NW) Show less
