      Nathan Wallace offered private tuition in various mathematics subjects at the University of Tasmania to students who lived in university accommodation. In the past, Nathan has also provided weekly tutorial classes for a group of first year engineering students who live in the university accommodation.

      From February until June Nathan Wallace worked as an intern engineer for AMC Search Ltd where his projects included the development of a compatibility matrix of international maritime engineering facilities and Australasian survey vessels, and design work using Autodesk Inventor Professional. Furthermore, it was Nathan's duty to create a database on Microsoft Access in order to easily generate UTAS unit outlines from entering data into a form.

      Upon completion of his third year of academic studies, Nathan Wallace worked as a pre-graduate Naval Architect at Thrust Maritime Pty. Ltd. for a summer internship. At the company Nathan completed various computer-aided drawings utilising AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and conducted a series of hand calculations to validate seafastening designs. Using Solidworks, Nathan constructed three-dimensional models of various vessels, including their below-deck structures for the purpose of finite element analysis (FEA). Seafastening and General Arrangement drawings of the respective vessels were completed on AutoCAD, and the seafastening designs validated using hand calculations and FEA on SolidWorks. Show less

      In his current role, Nathan is involved in many aspects of design ranging from conceptual drawings through to detailed design and fabrication.Nathan has participated in a number of Hyperbaric Rescue Vessel mobilisations/demobilisations where Thrust Maritime THOR Launch and Recovery Systems have been installed. During these projects, Nathan has been an integral team member with tasks ranging from initial analyses and reporting (FEA, stability, and seakeeping) through to supervising on-site welding processes, and assisting in the conduct of cargo/equipment placement and seafastening.Nathan has participated in several load tests of Launch and Recovery Systems, both during Factory Acceptance Testing and when installed on the Hyperbaric Rescue Vessel. Nathan has been involved in conducting full scale sea trials in which Self-Propelled Hyperbaric Lifeboats have been deployed from Dive Support Vessels, and recovered using the THOR A-Frame system.
