      Bachelor's Degree Environmental Science

A major in environmental biology and minors in both marine biology and chemistry. I gained basic knowledge and laboratory experience in aquatic pathology, laboratory safety, laboratory animal science as well as molecular- and microbiology. I finished my bachelor degree with a thesis with a review-based article/thesis on coral reef restoration. Master's degree Environmental and Marine Biology

A Master's degree in Environmental and Marine Biology (December 2017). Interested in research that studies food-web structures and cascade effects, benthic community composition as critical concepts of ecological functioning and ecosystem services, and ecological life-history strategies.

      Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
      Internship

The fish abundancies & species-composition were studied to identify the ecological status of lakes. Water quality parameters were analyzed at least twice a week for a continuous follow-up study. I also assisted in a project that studied how the invasive species Neogobius melanostomus affects different ecosystems of the Baltic Sea.

      Jun 2015 - Aug 2015
      Project assistant

The main tasks were to: prepare field research excursions, provide assistance in the field with SCUBA diving and assist during beach seining procedures. When we were not out in the field, I managed both the public aquaria as well as the laboratory aquaria that were used for experiments conducted on the three-spined stickleback and invertebrate interactions. A follow-up study on the environmental status was completed by studying benthic infauna samples (Ekman-Birge) as well as the water quality parameters (Limnos). Show less

    • The University of Hong Kong

      Jun 2016 - Sept 2016
      Visiting researcher

Professor David M. Baker from Hong Kong University was the primary supervisor for this project, and Dr. Nicolas Duprey was the secondary supervisor. This project studied the baseline of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Scleractinian coral communities. My main tasks were: to plan, prepare and lead field excursions. We did this by sampling sediment cores, while SCUBA diving in low visibility, along with the Water quality gradient of HKSAR. Laboratory work of the sediment cores was executed in the Swire Institute of Marine Sciences laboratory. The project's data was also used in my master’s thesis that studied functional changes in the coral communities. A multivariate trait-based approach was used to identify the life-history strategies of the Scleractinian corals. The study aims to investigate coral community composition, abundance, and function, using HKSAR’s Water Quality gradient as a model system for urbanized coastlines. This study uses coral communities and assesses change within the coral community structure. I aimed to document the changes in coral community structure and function by:i. defining a historical baseline for corals in HKSAR.ii. assessing the changes in coral species richness and species abundances between past and present.iii. determining potential changes in different coral life-history traits between past and present. This research project was in accordance with the EU Water-Framework Directive.I studied underwater macrophyte communities with quantifiable SCUBA transects surveys. The macrophyte community data was used to identify the coastal-waters ecological status of the Åland Islands. The environmental status was calculated, and mapped with Excel and QGIS

In charge of updating the multi-annual Aquaculture strategy for the Åland Islands. The strategy is an essential part of the updated European Maritime and Fisheries Fund program update. The new program period is to extend from 2021-2027. Work involved updating the strategic goals for the Åland Islands based on the EU-level strategic goals for Aquaculture. Work also involved identifying innovative solutions on how to expand aquaculture in a sea-basin that is currently affected by eutrophication as well as coexistence with other sea users. Show less I work as a Project Coordinator and Activity leader for the FIAXSE- case (Work Package 1.1.2) in the Pan Baltic Scope project. We aim to increase cross-border collaboration within the Baltic Sea region through Maritime Spatial Planning. Our case studies, in the FIAXSE activity, focus on stakeholder involvement in the Gulf of Bothnia and the improvement of social trust towards institutions, authorities, and planners in the Region of Satakunta (FI) and the Åland Islands (AX). My main tasks include: - coordinating a multinational and multidisciplinary workgroup - arranging and documenting meetings with local, regional, and national-level stakeholders, as well as planners- managing the budget of the Pan Baltic Scope project on the Åland Islands- managing subcontractors- reporting to the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME)- draft a Maritime Spatial Plan for the Åland Islands - represent the Åland Islands at the HELCOM-VASAB Maritime Spatial Planning Work Group as a part of the Finnish delegation Show less
