  Life Center was a nonprofit food pantry and community center serving low-income families in the Rockford area. Life Center employed 4 full time professionals and utilized 100 volunteers. It ceased operations in April 2014.DirectorLed Life Center to serve a low-income community. Refurbished a 60,000 square foot building and rented part of it to the Health Department to offset costs while making health services accessible to the community. Built 15-20 programs based on community needs. Oversaw all fundraising for an organization with an annual P&L of $200,000.Notable contributions:• Obtained and managed a government rental contract for unused space. Oversaw the redesign and remodel of a commercial space for new use.• Developed creative methods of raising funds to support Life Center including: generating revenue through vending machines, collecting scrap metal for recycling, and offering paid cleanup services to the City of Rockford for local outdoor festivals.• Obtained and distributed 20,000 – 30,000 pounds of food per month to low-income families.• Built tutoring programs and clubs that served approximately 25 – 30 children per week.• Conceived, created, obtained donations for, and launched an annual drive, Tools for Schools, that provides school supplies to more than 5,000 children in the Rockford area. !• To support the high profile Tools for Schools project developed partnerships with McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Mayor of Rockford, Rockford Fire Department, Rockford Park District, Kelley Williamson Mobil Stations, Alliance Credit Union, Heartland Community Church, and 80 other organizations.• Obtained media coverage for Tools for Schools in local television and radio news stations including WTBO, WREX, FOX, and the Rockford Register Star.
