      Master of Science - MS Geography

      I obtained my Master's in Science in Geography in 2018. My research explored meanings of place and identity, and investigated place-based reactions to refugee resettlement. This research is informed by scholarship in feminist political geography, critical race studies, and the geographies of Islamophobia. My Master's research culminated in a peer-reviewed article entitled, "Refugee resettlement, place, and the politics of Islamophobia" published in Social & Cultural Geography.

      My undergraduate studies focused on politics and identity in the Middle East & North Africa. I received minors in Arabic and Anthropology, and wrote my capstone thesis on nationalism, identity, and refugees in Jordan. I studied abroad in Amman, Jordan and Istanbul, Turkey.

      I completed my PhD in Geography, and received a PhD minor in Gender & Women's Studies and a Certificate in College Teaching. I utilize feminist, qualitative research methodologies to explore refugees' experiences of resettlement, particularly their negotiations of federally-mandated economic self-sufficiency and their access to housing amid a national housing crisis.
