Hired as Research Assistant Engineer after graduation (Summer 2022).Responsibilities:- Provide and improve monthly reports (e.g., Ridership, O-D matrix, Load, Headway, etc.) on CABS system to Transportation and Traffic Management (TTM), the CABS's provider.- Keep our lab's SQL and other databases updated with campus-only and Columbus transit and traffic data.- Assist undergrad and graduate students that work for the Transit Laboratory with transportation data processing and analysis.- Assist professors Dr. Rabi Mishalani and Dr. Mark McCord in transportation classes with materials and in-class guidance for students when working with in-house-developed and private software as TransCAD and Matlab.- Debug and sanity check outputs of laboratory's scripts on diverse transit- and traffic-related data processing.Achievements:- I coded more than 10,000 lines of code in Python while translating and updating old Matlab codes and creating new scripts for the laboratory's works. Examples below.--->--->--->---> Show less Graduate Research Assistant for the Transit Laboratory at The Ohio State University, a laboratory that researches topics related to the planning, service, design, and operations of public transportation. The focus of the Transit Laboratory is on using data collected from in‑service systems to enhance the understanding of complex transit related phenomena and develop means to improve policy-making, planning, and service provision.Responsibilities:- Data collection of boardings and alightings on Campus Area Bus Service (CABS) buses.- Traffic volume in-loco and video-assisted data collection in the Columbus campus area.- Provided monthly reports (e.g., Ridership, O-D matrix, Load, Headway, etc.) on CABS system to Transportation and Traffic Management (TTM), the CABS's provider.Achievements:- Thesis approved: Using APC Data to Investigate Changes in City-wide Transit Origin-Destination Flows from Deliberate Interventions or Exogenous Events.- Developed a Python-based tool that estimates origin-destination flows with the Central Ohio Transit Authority's (COTA) APC data and facilitates geospatial passenger trip pattern analyses among city-wide transit zones.- Developed a Python-based tool to automate 2/3 of the traffic volume video-assisted data collection, saving the laboratory nearly 1,000 hours per year of manual work that used to be performed by GRA and undergrad students ($15-$20/hr). • Graduate Research Assistant

        Aug 2019 - May 2022
    • Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission

      Oct 2022 - Jun 2023
      Associate Engineer

Associate Engineer (planner/modeler) for MORPC, the Central Ohio’s regional council. MORPC conducts transportation planning in Central Ohio and serve as the U.S. Department of Transportation’s designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Columbus urban area.Responsibilities:- Coding the central Ohio's highway network for our region's CUBE-based Travel Demand Model.- Keeping internal database updated with traffic and turning movement counts that are collected by consultants.- Preparing geospatial traffic analyses (e.g., ADT) for consultants and reports. Common tools for this are ArcGIS, StreetLight, and Python (libs Geopandas, ArcPy, Folium).Achievements:- Developed a Python-based tool for transit network coding using GTFS feeds. The tool matches the transit network with the highway network and exports the new merged network shapefiles (for general GIS) and .net (for CUBE/Bentley) as well as transit-only nodes and links information and line file for CUBE models. GitHub Repo: https://github.com/morpc/morpc-gtfs-to-public-transit-network.- Wrote Python scripts to snap traffic counts from local and state sources to roads for travel demand model evaluation purposes.- Wrote a beta version Python script to expand our modeling road network by taking links and nodes from secondary road networks (e.g., ODOT’s). I could not finish it due to leaving the agency, but I left a good basis for future versions. Show less
