The event unfolds over six months and is located on the site of the old Durban International Airport, South Africa. The temporary pavilion model is used as a means to challenge pre-conceived ideas of what an architectural object ought to be and makes suggestions of what architecture could possibly be, beyond the simplistic interpretation of applying waste as building material. What does architecture mean in this time of intense consumption and disposal? What does it say that we try to hide, bury and conceal our waste? The intent of this project is to invert the visitor’s relationship to our prevailing waste culture by blurring the distinction between waste and material, and, between architecture and landscape. May 2015 - Mar 2016
      Junior Architect

I started working at Jenny Mills Architects in 2015 upon graduating with a BSc in Architecture. I worked as part of a team on various projects competently completing a number of tasks such as measured and surveyed drawings, Revit 3D modeling, council submission plans, client presentations, site visits and meetings, as well as the taking and collating of minutes and issuing contract instructions. I also worked on a project named 72 Wale Street, a heritage building. I researched its history and submitted a proposal to the various heritage bodies concerned. Show less

      Feb 2019 - May 2019
      Junior Architect

I started working at Andre Rademeyer Architects in 2016 as a junior architect. Kynvett-Knevitt is the most notable project with which I was involved. I worked on this R1.4mil apartment refurbishment in Bantry Bay from conception right through to completion, performing all drawing work. The challenge for this project was to complete it on time as the body corporate of the apartment block has very strict regulations stipulating hours when building is allowed during the day and a limitation of months during the year when building work is allowed. I left ARA at the end of 2016 to pursue a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Johannesburg. In 2019, I returned to ARA to take over a complex R13mil additions to and renovation of a private residence from an employee leaving to pursue her honours degree. While working at Andre Rademeyer Architects I competently completed measured survey drawings, council submission drawings, design development drawings, 3D models and renders, tender and construction drawings, counter interface with council, site meetings, taking, collating and distributing site minutes , contract instructions, site photographs, precedent presentations, material/mood presentations, product research and supplier sourcing.
