As a teaching assistant, I have supported multiple computing courses:Spring 2024 - Prototyping Interactive Systems with AI (Physical Computing and Human-Computer Interaction leveraging AI)Spring 2023 - The Hardware/Software Interface (C, Assembly, Memory Management)Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 - Introductory Programming (Java)I have led TA sections, held office hours, and graded homework and exams. For the Introductory Programming course in Java, I also audited newly developed course materials for accessibility considerations. Show less I am an accessibility researcher focused on creating accessible technologies for the blind and low-vision community. In the VoxLens project, I helped build tools to improve the accessibility of online data visualizations for screen-reader users, testing their functionality, usability, and usefulness. In particular, I contributed to the design of a sonification feature for the data visualizations. I conducted contextual interviews as well as user studies with screen-reader users. I also co-authored two papers which were accepted to conferences. For my undergraduate honors thesis, I am investigating how auditory elements of games impact players’ experiences and decision-making. In this project, users play a maze video game in which the music implicitly indicates which paths lead to the exit. To create this maze, I reviewed music theory and ludomusicology literature to inform design of game’s musical elements. I implemented the game utilizing Godot game engine and selected its in-game music. I designed and conducted user studies to explore the impacts of the auditory elements. I also presented conceptual poster at University of Washington 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium, and plan to give an oral presentation at the University of Washington 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium. In the Makeability Lab, I collaborate with four other researchers to leverage augmented reality technology to make sports more accessible to people with low vision. I have extracted and labeled frames from a video dataset to prepare training data for our computer vision model. I assisted with running pilot studies with our prototype and creating a demo video.
