  During my time at Cambridge Assessment, I helped coordinate the exam appeal process for the three main exam boards run under Cambridge University. After a number of months at the position, I managed to reduce my general workload by 60% by making better use of what software I had at my disposal. This gave me more time to concentrate on other issues. Even though this was a temporary position, because of the changes that I achieved regarding productivity.   I designed and sold mainly turbocharger ancillaries components to the performance auto sport industry, the company also sold performance Garrett turbochargers in the UK and Europe. Part of what we did consisted of producing new components to retrofit existing turbocharger applications. We also carried a wide range of stock from different manufactures to either compliment our own products or to distribute as a reseller.

  Applications Engineer

  As a Applications Engineer my daily duties include supporting customers with technical and design problems that they may incur using SolidWorks. My other duties include consultancy for either existing or new customers, this could be creating new designs from scratch or improving current products. I also conduct simulation analysis on existing products for customers.Areas in SolidWorks simulation that I study can vary from job to job but normally consist of either standard stress testing (Linear static), Frequency, Dynamic loading, Motion, Thermal and Fatigue analysis. As a qualified SolidWorks instructor, I also teach SolidWorks at all levels including simulation and SolidWorks Composer, this could be a large class learning the basics or a tailored course for a individual.Data management is another area that the software that I help look after. I create, train and maintain the two data management packages that SolidWorks offer (Workgroup and Enterprise PDM). This is again to existing customers that we support. We have a 3D ABS/PLA printer which I also maintain and run as a bureau service to existing customers. Show less
