    • Aeroquip Corp.

      Aug 1986 - Nov 1996
      Senior Project Engineer/Project Leader

Started in the Aerospace Division designing hydraulic Couplings, Valves, Swivels, Fuel Nozzles, and specialized elastomeric seal designs. I then moved into the Research and Development Group and designed new products for the Aerospace and Industrial Groups. Led a Project Team of five engineers on Aeroquip's biggest development project for a patented quick-disconnect hydraulic connector (STC) for the Truck & Bus Market. Worked closely with major truck manufacturers in the development and testing of this product that was named "Product of the Year" by Plant Engineering Magazine.Key Accomplishments• Awarded two patents (Pipe Connector & Plastic Unisex Coupling).• Designed and developed new products for hydraulic systems such as quick-disconnect couplings, swivels, pressure and control valves for aerospace & industrial applications. Worked closely with marketing or the customer to take the product from point of conception through to production.• Managed the Fuel Handling Product Line and developed two fuel nozzles for the Aerospace Division.• Supervised two engineers for new product development and to provide production support.• Gained R&D experience for new products in Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial, and Military. • Marshall Brass

      Nov 1996 - May 2007
      Engineering Manager

Hired engineers to establish and manage an Engineering Department to develop new products and support manufacturing of existing products. Added to the growth of the company by the release of new products and cost reduction through the redesign of existing products for propane, plumbing and air conditioning.Key Accomplishments:• Incorporated a gated Product Development Process.• Established Engineering Standards for Project Management, Design Control, and Research and Development that were instrumental in obtaining ISO 9002 Certification.• Set-up new Solid Modeling CAD system (SolidWorks) that saved money through reduced material used in products and through fewer engineering errors inherent with a parametric CAD system.• Managed redesign on an existing product that realized an annual cost savings of $750K by reducing brass and plastic used to decrease material costs by 25%.• Managed several manufacturing-engineering projects that reduced cost through lower cycle times and improved quality.• Created and managed the Engineering budget.• Developed a family of air conditioning service valves for companies like Trane, Lennox and York. The development of this product resulted in opening a new division.• Developed propane and natural gas connectors and valves.• Developed plumbing fittings and pressure regulators. Show less

    • SPX> ClydeUnion Pumps

      May 2007 - Jul 2014
Special Projects Engineer - Project Manager

Standardized the API 674 Reciprocating Pump product line for the Oil & Gas Industry by creating common BOM modules and converting AutoCAD drawings into 3D SolidWorks. As a Project Manager I worked with customers, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing for on-time shipments. Provided Technical Support to the Sales Team by: answering questions; creating technical literature; calculating pump sizing and pricing.Key Accomplishments• 6 Sigma Green Belt certified in Lean Manufacturing by Textron.• Product Line Standardization: reduced cost, inventory and delivery time.• Set up a Quick Ship Program to reduce delivery time and increase business.• Helped to set up an online quoting system (Intelliquip) to support the sales force.• Completed 32.5 of 35 PDU's toward PMP Certification.• Project Manager for $1.8 M project for the Keystone Pipeline including 38 pumps.
