      Jan 2015 - Sept 2015
      Engineering Student, Reliability

      • Part of the Reliability Engineering team at the Horizon Oil Sands site.• Worked with a small team of diverse individuals in order to eliminate a set of bad acting equipment on site using the Lean Six Sigma problem-solving methodology. • Conducted a Root Cause Analysis exercise in order to determine the root cause of an equipment failure on site.

      • Directed a cross-functional team of consultants and analysts in a comprehensive review of a re-operationalized lithium ore mining and processing facility to elevate production by 30%. Spearheaded the development of an operational transformation roadmap targeting critical facility areas, including maintenance organization, maintenance practices, warehouse management, fleet management, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Identified 16 actionable, low-capital opportunities for improvement, resulting in streamlined operations and enhanced productivity potential across the facility.• Led a team of six analysts and coordinated with numerous internal and external subject matter experts to establish a suite of maintenance and asset health standards for a major vertically integrated utility in Western Canada. Delivered 10 comprehensive maintenance standards, 7 critical spares standards, 2 civil maintenance standards, and 2 asset health methodologies, optimizing asset reliability and supporting long-term operational integrity across the utility's distribution network. Show less • Created an operational readiness (OR) plan for the deployment of new Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software at one of British Columbia's largest copper mines. Engaged closely with site maintenance and warehouse teams to prepare for a smooth go-live, conducting a thorough assessment of the site's current maintenance maturity. Developed key OR deliverables, including a resource-loaded schedule, budget, and risk management framework, ensuring the site was fully prepared for seamless software integration and sustained operational efficiency.• Led a team of consultants and analysts in conducting a buy-side technical due diligence for one of North America's largest energy investment firms, assessing a major independent oil and natural gas company in the Western USA. Led an in-depth evaluation of the target’s decarbonization initiatives, including carbon capture and storage (CCS) capabilities, and provided critical insights into the buy-side financial model. Delivered a strategic assessment that informed investment decisions and supported long-term sustainability objectives.• Evaluated the maintenance capital expenditure (CapEx) strategies across diverse portfolio companies for a multinational investment management firm, spanning multiple geographies and industries. Conducted an in-depth review of each business's asset management philosophy, historical and forecasted maintenance CapEx, and key maintenance-related KPIs to assess expenditure alignment with operational objectives. Oversaw analyses for sectors including electricity transmission and distribution, mobile telecommunications, telecom towers, data centers, last-mile utility networks (gas, electricity, district energy, water, wastewater, and fiber-to-the-home), natural gas pipelines, freight rail infrastructure, and port terminals. Show less • Performed a detailed economic and environmental analysis of implementing a waste rock conveyor to replace haul trucks as part of BC Hydro’s low carbon electrification (LCE) program at a large copper mine in BC. The resultant recommendation was ultimately accepted and implemented by the client. • Led a comprehensive due diligence analysis on trona, coal, and oil & gas assets for a multinational acquisition firm, providing critical technical insights for a potential investment. Developed a robust, scenario-based financial model enabling the client to evaluate multiple economic outcomes—base case, upside, and downside—facilitating data-driven decision-making based on quantitative analysis. Delivered actionable recommendations that helped align investment decisions with strategic financial goals.• Developed an asset criticality standard as well as a maintenance tactics development standard using Reliability Centered Maintenance 2 (RCM2) and SAE JA1012 for a large nickel mining company in Eastern Canada. Show less • As the technical lead, developed a statistical RAM (reliability, availability, and maintainability) Model to predict the availability of a greenfield Potash mine as well as to identify key process bottlenecks based on Monte Carlo principles. I was also part of the team that presented this work at the Minexcellence conference in Santiago, Chile in 2018.• Developed the Asset Management Strategy and Asset Management Plans for critical asset classes (ex. conveyors, pumps, bucket elevators, etc.) at a greenfield Potash mine, in accordance with ISO 55001.• Explored predictive maintenance (PdM) and PdM 4.0 (an Industry 4.0 initiative) options for a major mining client and forecasted potential CAPEX savings Show less • Developed an Asset Criticality Analysis (ACA) Standard for a greenfield Potash facility. • Facilitated 8 workshops, totaling over 40 hours of workshop time, to determine the criticality of more than 1200 equipment. The workshops included a combination of reliability engineers, discipline engineers, site personnel, and external subject matter experts.• Developed 17 detailed Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECAs) for the most critical asset classes to understand risk profiles and mitigation tactics.
