      At the Department of Biophysics & Physiology Research, University of Miami Miller Schol of Medicine, I studied the Role of Glia Enriched Transcription Factors in Caenorhabditis elegans Sensory Behaviors. At the Bianchi Lab, I studied a pair of glial cells in the head of C. elegans that are associated with sensory neurons that detect odors and tastants. Collaboratively, I tested the hypothesis that these transcription factors regulate the expression of glial genes that are important for neuronal function. During my internship in the lab, I utilized knock-outs of these genes and assayed animals’ responses to odors and tastants. After 8 weeks of research, I presented my findings as well as my research paper with my lab partner at the University of Miami. Show less
