  Functional verification tester

  I spent 15 months on placement at IBM as a functional verification tester for Operational Decision Manager on zOS. As a tester it was my responsibility to write test plans, test new features and identify and report defects. As part of the IBM GiveBack scheme I volunteered as a team leader of a team who taught year 1 and 2’s ICT at the local primary school.

  I lead a team in developing our diverse student volunteers to support their leadership of a wide variety of accessible extra-curricular activities. Across my role I am responsible for creating and delivering training and development for students, and supporting my staff in each of their roles. As the leader of a busy team I am responsible for setting the strategic direction of the department, including working with each team member to identify individual objectives for the year ahead. In my role as Student Groups Coordinator I am responsible for the day to day running and administration of our student groups, from supporting student led events to managing finances and resolving conflict. During my role I have coordinated the training and development of our student group leaders through the Student Leaders Residential and Student Leaders Conferences, and also organised large scale events such as the MDXSU Awards and the MDXSU Refresh Programme. As an intern working for MDXSU I was responsible for supporting the academic societies and creating opportunities for students within the School of Science and Technology. As part of my role I helped organise and deliver the first ever Natural Sciences careers fair, in partnership with the Natural Sciences Academic Society and IBMS, at Middlesex University.
