  3 months of industry training turned in to 12 months of highly valuable experience, launching my career in urban water management. I learnt flood modelling from the ground up - profiling catchment areas, assigning rainfall and runoff coefficients, defining boundary and flow conditions, simulating rainfall events, preparing flood maps and reporting to clients. An early introduction to consulting and the importance of technical excellence, particularly to a boutique consultancy.

  After a start in hydrology and flood modelling moved to a large consultancy and expanded in to water supply and wastewater management. Learnt the principles of infrastructure planning and design through a broad range of network modelling, master planning, concept design and design for construction projects. 6 years at AECOM provided a strong insight in to the fundamentals of consulting - winning wok and profitably delivering it - and the context in which infrastructure projects are pursued.

  I project and design managed feasibility studies and businesses cases for large new bulk water supply schemes in typically regional areas focused on irrigation.
