  Activities and Societies: The Agricultural and Food Engineering (AgFE) Department of the IIT Kharagpur – the only department of its kind in the country’s IIT system is hosting the NABARD-funded Agri-Business Incubation Foundation (ABIF) for the promotion of agribusiness. The ABIF, being registered as a Section-8 Company within IIT Kharagpur, is mandated to incubate innovative ideas in the agriculture and food technology domain for creating Agripreneures. It develops, demonstrates and transfers low-cost technologies for the sustainable development of agricultural and rural communities. The Foundation expects to conduct hands-on training, workshops, and seminars for capacity building of farmers and rural youths. It is expected that the region’s agriculture will get a boost through action-oriented research including climate change impact assessment and adaptation, value addition, market-linkage, and risk management.
