  The work in this research internship was tied to a Hindustan Unilever-funded project that sought to understand the kinetics of hydrogen peroxide degradation in surfactant solution and to create novel stabilizer molecules to keep hydrogen peroxide stable under the given conditions. While working on this project, I learned about various techniques for accurately estimating the amount of hydrogen peroxide in a given solution. Working in a lab also taught us about lab ethics, lab procedures, and several analytical techniques including HPLC, GC and UV-Vis spectroscopy that were used in determining the concentration of different compounds used in our experiment. Working with surfactants also led us to use Krüss K-11 Tensiometer to determine the surface tension of the given sample. Show less

  Chemical Engineering Intern

  The internship at the Mumbai refinery of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited gave me a deeper insight into the operations and processes at NFCC (New fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit). During one month, I was assigned to the operations department of NFCCU where I learned various techniques used in operations such as pump priming, pump switch over, heat exchanger isolation, heat exchanger cleaning, line tracing by directly working with the field engineers and plant technicians. I also got a deeper insight into fuel gas treatment unit (FGTU) troubleshooting and took part in operations like sootblowing of flue gas cooling unit (FGCU). I was assigned a project on reactor regenerator, which was successfully completed at the end of the internship. Show less

  The research work in this internship was to determine the synergistic effect of graphene, nickel, and Mxene as a catalyst on the reaction rate kinetics such as rate constant and reaction order of Mg-based metal hydride nanocomposites for solid-state hydrogen storage using nonlinear regression. The research work also required the use of various analytical techniques to analyze the samples such as X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and FTIR. In addition, in-depth knowledge of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) was acquired, as it is necessary for imaging the experimental samples. Show less
