The goal of this device would be able to provide potable drinking water in areas where salt water is the only reliable source of water. Through an extensive literature search, several renditions of a test cell design, and ongoing membrane research and design, a theory for developing a portable desalination device was created. Following project deliverables outlined at the beginning of the project, a successful semester of project research and design was conducted. From the literature search and development of project designs, finite element analysis was conducted on areas of concern. Application of the engineering design method was applied throughout the development of the project and continued through the conclusion of the Spring 2018 semester. Show less
