      Career Advisor & Coach

In my role as a Career Advisor and Coach at Community College of Aurora, I contributed to the successful implementation of a $3.9 million federal grant, the Strengthening Working Families Initiative (SWFI). SWFI aimed to empower working families and provide them with access to high-demand career paths while addressing childcare needs. Students from a variety of backgrounds, including first-generation students, single parents, international participants, and underrepresented groups, were served.I was honored to be a part of a program that supports working families through a two-generation approach. It enabled us to address the various challenges families face based on the understanding that no issue affects a family in isolation. Additionally, integrating two-generation solutions involved integrating insights across systemic, policy, program, and data and evaluation layers. Consequently, I collaborated with several great partners, including the Aspen Institute, The Bell Policy Center, community partners, and employers. As a bonus, the Denver Tech community captivated me. Show less

    • Turing School of Software & Design

      Mar 2020 - Mar 2025

As a Career Transition Coach at the Turing School of Software & Design, I have the pleasure of supporting early to mid-career professionals through successful career transitions in tech. I guide in-program students in developing their developer identity, fostering growth through personalized 1:1 coaching and self-exploration. Together, we shape narratives that define who they are and aspire to become. By employing best practices, I assist them in crafting compelling career materials that effectively communicate their unique journey and showcase their value to both their network and potential employers.Additionally, I support our alumni seeking their second or third roles in tech by guiding them through strategic job searches. I help them define clear career goals and target roles that align with their evolving skills, interests, and aspirations. It's important to distinguish between a job search and career management: a job search is typically a one-time event triggered by job loss or layoff, where the focus is on finding a new position. In contrast, career management is an ongoing mindset and strategic approach to shaping one's professional path. It involves continuous skill development, networking, and long-term planning to achieve career goals and adapt to changes in the job market.I share the importance of integrating both job search tactics and broader career management strategies to ensure sustained success in the tech industry. This approach not only helps alumni secure their desired roles but also prepares them for long-term career growth and resilience in a dynamic field. Show less As a dedicated Career Specialist at Turing School of Software & Design, I guide students through the job-search component of their academic program, building strong and supportive relationships to ensure their success. By collaborating closely with technical instructors, I plan and teach professional development sessions that equip students with the skills they need to thrive in the workplace. My role involves consistently redesigning and updating the curriculum to align with industry trends, ensuring our students learn the most relevant and impactful skills. Additionally, I actively engage with our alumni and mentor network to support job hunters and expand our connections within the tech community. My Expertise includes:- Career Counseling and Coaching- Professional Development Training- Data Analysis for Career Outcomes- Alumni Relations and Networking- Program Development and Improvement- Relationship Building and Communication Show less
