      I spent a week learning about the joint replacements made at DePuy Synthes and understanding the typical design, manufacturing and testing process. I then put my knowledge into action by designing and 3D printing a trauma plate and putting it through FEA and destructive testing.

      As bar manager, I overlook a team of bar staff, kitchen staff and security. I open and close the bar and help to run big events from small bookings to sports and themed clubbing events with upwards of 300 people in attendance. As a manager I am entrusted to deal with finances at the end of each shift, deal with conflict that may arise from customers and handle challenging situations regularly. As a bartender at the student union, I make and pour drinks, serve food and and aid the smooth running of the bar on both quiet days and large events.

I am also the main point of contact between the student union and the society as well as external parties and the society. As chair, I run regular meetings with the rest of committee. I have learnt more about finances and budgeting through event and annual budgeting. I have organised university wide performances and shows for the society and learnt to manage committee to organise other events and resolve conflicts. After presenting my project to the judges and members of the public in an interview and presentation style, I was selected to be one of three prize winners, winning the title “Best Use of Innovation”.
