      On the personal side: I am a survivor. On July 2nd 2007, I broke my C2 while surfing in California. As a result I was completely paralyzed and actually drowned in the ocean before being rescued. With the incredible and patient help of my wife, children, family and friends I fought back from my injuries and as of now am almost nearly 100 percent recovered. I share this because this experience and journey has changed my life and has provided inspiration to others to persevere.What has been amazing to me is that life has not gotten any easier since the accident but my perspective has dramatically changed. Since that day on the beach I have experienced many challenges and changes in my business and personal life. As most people that have progressed into their 50;s would certainly agree, life does not slow down just because you do. I will admit that some of those things have been down right difficult but I have also had the unique opportunity to to see all of the blessings that have occurred as well and to literally compare the two perspectives has been humbling to say the least. Since the accident I have seen all five of my children get married to outstanding partners and start their families. I have been able to greet 13 going on to 15, new grand children to our family. I would have missed all of that and all of the wonderful events to come had I not been blessed with thus second chance. I remember sitting in the hospital and countless times since then, seeing others who are suffering in different ways and always being grateful for the trials I have had and wondering if I would have the ability to endure what they are facing. This is just the tip of the iceberg but I felt it was important to share some of my thoughts. Show less
