      Data scientist / programmer

Volunteered to be part of the Public Service Division (PSD)'s Gig Work initiative, a whole-of-government programme where officers are provided with the opportunity to contribute their expertise in cross-agency STEM projects. I was selected by IPOS to be the lead developer for a six-month tech project to create a forecasting software. The software improves upon the econometric forecasting method used by IPOS to predict their Intellectual Property (IP) filing applications and entirely automates and simplifies their time-series forecasting process.In-depth mathematical discussions with the in-house economist to ensure an accurate translation of the 'math into code'. Active management of the product development timelines including providing progress updates to management. Towards the conclusion of the project, I conducted user demonstrations to showcase the software's ease of use and sought users' feedback when finetuning the software and crafting the user instruction manual. The final tech product utilised a recursive form of the autoregressive distributive lag model and tapped on the power of iterative computing to derive meaningful insights and plausible filing predictions from the most recent economic datasets.
