  Mechanical Engineer Intern

  Tuks Baja is one of the SAE’s (Society of Automotive Engineers) design competitions. The Tuks Baja team is comprised of mechanical engineering students that design, manufacture and construct small off-road vehicles that are used to compete in Mini Baja competitions on both national and international level.Tuks Baja requires participants to use real-world engineering practices and principles to conquer the challenges associated with design and building of a recreational all-terrain vehicle. The construction of the vehicles requires the use of CNC-machines, lathes, milling machines, saws, drills, various welders and many more manufacturing instruments.This competition also challenges the entrants to build a vehicle with a limited budget, incorporating both the disciplines of racing & performance design with industrial design.I was part of the University of Pretoria’s Tuks Baja team from 2013 to 2014 where we excelled and achieved the following results:2013: Silver Medal – South African SASOL Mini Baja Competition2014: Bronze Medal – South African SASOL Mini Baja Competition Show less
