      This EnPe project (funded by Norad and administred by NTNU) is a collaboration between NMBU and 3 departments in Hawassa University (Main Project Coordinator Meseret Tesema) and University of Mekelle.We have 5 PhD students who work on biology and energy and 1 Research Fellow on social sciences from Ethiopia funded under this project. We work on Jatropha and Castor bean from various aspects on biology (3 PhD students, enrolled with BIOVIT) and bioenergy (2 PhD students, enrolled with REALTEK) at NMBU. Total budget for the project is NOK 10 Million. Show less We have currently 5 PhD students and 1 Research Fellow in this project funded by Norad. We also have 1 associated Phd student funded through Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through the project leader on this in IITA, Dr. Leena Tripathi, Nairobi, Kenya. All PhD students are enrolled as students at BIOVIT (IPV).We work on viruses elimination and genotyping in sweet potato and nematode management and genotyping in Enset. Involved institutions: Hawassa University, Ethiopia (main partner in the South), Mekelle University, Ethiopia, University of Juba, South Sudan, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), East African Region (Tanzania and Kenya), NIBIO (Norway) and interact with EIAR in Ethiopia and CIP in Peru. Total budget for the project is NOK 18 Million. Show less Main tasks as a leader: Changed the Microscopy Unit to Imaging Centre Campus Ås, with a Strategic Action Plan in agreement with Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB), Norwegian Veterinary School (NVH), later merged to NMBU. The following institutions were also part of the process; Nofima, Norwegian Veterinary Institute, Norwegian Institute for Forest and Landscapes and Norwegian Crop Research Institute (the latter two merged to Norwegian Institute for Bioeconomy - NIOBIO).Introduced an electronic version of signing for use - enabling invoices made directly.Applied for new equipment and started getting funding for upgrades of the CORE facility.
