She is a collaborator, a leader and at times a critical friend to the Police and other partners in the arena of children's safeguarding. Ms Watkinson has become a valued member of the Trauma Informed Plymouth Network and has demonstrated leadership in working collaboratively with colleagues within Safer Plymouth Community Safety Partnership to redesign the CSP as the first city partnership to embed trauma informed principles and values. This has taken innovation, inspiration and, indeed, courage as it has involved an openness to organisational change. Ms Watkinson has made a real personal commitment, taking on additional responsibility and being a change leader, both within her own organisation and the wider partnership. The benefits of Ms Watkinson's work have really been demonstrated during the COVID19 lockdown period and the work the safeguarding children partnership have facilitated to ensure the most vulnerable children within the city are protected within a properly joined up and connected system. Her work to link safeguarding with community safety was critical in this regard. Ms Watkinson has worked closely with the Police over many years and she is well known and respected for her good humour, energy, and clarity of thought. This award recognises her continued hard work and drive and excellence in contributing to a more caring city that is responsive to the needs of children. Congratulations! Show less
