  • Manage WIA Youth Program of approximately 400 participants, between ages 17-21, in a region made up of nine counties • Manage Summer Employment Programs for approximately 170 young adults, 60 worksites and employers, four worksite monitors, and four career service coordinators • Review, research, and reference WIA federal regulations in order to successfully provide interpretation to staff members • Train staff on implementation of local policies and procedures for successful program delivery • Research local and national service providers, who would qualify as ideal partners, to deliver workforce-related services to program eligible participants • Plan and implement program design and activities that will increase performance and provide work-ready professionals to the local area Show less

  At Causeway, James heads up our outreach–connecting us to community partners and fostering relationships through our programs and events. On average James runs in to 6.5 people he knows every time he steps out of our office. We can’t imagine a better person to connect us in this city.

  Workaholics

  Through the night, Workaholics uses open workspaces to develop the skills of professionals and entrepreneurs. It was founded from the notion that most people who get into any form of entrepreneurship or seek professional development, also work a full-time job and don’t have the time until the evening hours. Our open workspaces are available in the evenings from 6 pm until midnight.

  Entrepreneur in Residence

  Co-created Detroit Demo Day for entrepreneurs based in Detroit to receive their share of $1M annually via a live pitch contest with over 2,000 people in attendance. Provided funding for entrepreneur support organizations to help budding business owners go from idea to action. Co-produced activations such as Detroit Startup Week and AfroTech Detroit to help create more awareness and exposure to resources.
