Major accomplishments: (1) directed the establishment of a newly formed work unit, which included developing the organization structure, recruiting and hiring new staff, and developing and implementing strategic plans; (2) wrote four successful federal grant applications for improving birth surveillance, birth defects prevention, and hearing follow up; (3) managed the development and implementation of Virginia Newborn Screening Services Regulations; (4) managed the restructuring of the Virginia Genetics Advisory Committee; and (5) managed the development and implementation of a Web-based integrated tracking and data management system. Duties included (1) assessing school community health status and available resources, (2) assisting policymakers in developing local and state school health policies, (3) making sure that needed school health services and functions were available by directing and managing multiple studies and projects. Major accomplishments: (1) developed a School Health Information System, (2) established the School Nurse Institute Partnership, (3) published multiple guidance documents and reports, and (4) provided numerous trainings and Web-based resources that were highly evaluated by target audiences. Major accomplishments: (1) managed $18 million budget, (2) developed future annual budget and strategic plan, (3) managed recruitment processes for new positions, (4) participated in children with special health care needs management change processes, and (5) provided leadership and support for a multidisciplinary staff of professionals and support staff, including development of annual performance plans. At the end of tenure,was recognized by management for doing more than maintaing the status quo, including providing leadership that moved the division forward in meeting its strategic goals and developing a trusting relationship with staff that responded well to division changes.
