    • Aston University

      Sept 2013 - Jun 2016

I set up Aston University's first Tea Society in my second year of university. I took the role of treasurer and was heavily involved with the running of the society throughout all my years at university.Tea Society was born due to a need to offer a safe space for students within the alcohol fueled atmosphere of University. We promoted Tea Society to those students who wanted to meet interesting people and make new friends, but also to students who love tea! We showed our creative side through Tea Society as we had to organise weekly events and activities, some of which included pumpkin carving, tea-related crafts, tea quizzes, competitions and scavenger hunts. In my role as treasurer in the society I:- Played a major part in planning and organising the weekly meetings- Reserved spaces and being in regular communication with the tea room- Engaged with our members to integrate them into the society- Organised the stand at Fresher's fairs in 2012 and 2014- Organised regular meetings with the committee - Dealt with the society's finances- Liaised with the Student's Union over organsing events, promoting the society and funding- Attended regular Student's Union Council meetings Show less I was a member of the Astonishing Voices committee in my second year of study. This role provided many challenges, mainly in the form of song arranging, so I learned many new skills. Patience in particular! The main responsibilities included:- Organising weekly choir rehearsals- Arranging songs for the choir- Organising an end of year concert, including booking the room, planning a programme, organising additional rehearsals, promoting the event.- Organising regular committee meetings.
