      Social Work Intern

      As an undergrad Social Work Intern, I worked predominantly with medically fragile children and their families in the public child welfare setting. I assisted with child residential placements in foster or other out-of-home care living arrangements. I assisted with foster parent recruitment efforts and training programs specific to children with a variety of medical needs. I took part in updating and detailing current foster parent documenting/tracking procedures and records. I assisted case carrying Social Workers with monitoring and documenting case plan activities, monthly visits, court reports, medical records, and education plans. I was an active participant in multidisciplinary teams relating to children and/or family mental health, medical, structural or educational needs while under the supervision of public child welfare. I engaged with many different groups of people from varying ethnic and cultural backgrounds; individuals (children and adults) living with various medical conditions, physical and developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and behavioral health challenges.
