The main project was focused on the evaluation of nutrient quality from different types of farming and their impact on the European hamster, their population reconnection for their biology preservation. My work here was to plant different combinaisons of crops for semi-captivity experiments. After releasing individuals in enclosure, I was monitoring their night time activity like moving, feeding and mating behavior with a camera setting adapted. During this time, I was also releasing hamsters into the wild with the research team and the ONCFS organization in areas with a low natural population density.Field work : - Release in nature individuals raised in captivity- Planting crops- Video monitoring- Feeding and animal care Show less

I was hired for the field work part after preparations like horse photo identification and groups (males and females). Afterwards, I was doing with two other colleagues, a 6 hours sampling per day during several weeks.Research work :- Video analysis of mutual grooming - Collecting datas on ExcelField work : - Scan sampling - Behavior sampling Show less

I helped a vet student with her thesis on the dogs’ stress to a veterinary exam. The study was focused on the importance of social interactions between the vet assistant and the dog in the waiting room before the vet exam, to see if there were any physiologic and behavior effects during the exam with the vet after a contact or not with the vet assistant before examination. I was playing the role of the vet assistant during the experiments led in the vet school. Afterwards, I analyzed all videos and used a serie of 8 behaviors to assess the dog stress in the waiting room and in the exam room. I summarized all the results and wrote a report for my first year master thesis. Research skills: - Protocol improvement- Use of BORIS software for video analysis- Data collecting on ExcelLab skills:- Dog handling as a vet assistant during the experiments- Set up and synchronized cameras Show less

      Research Assistant

I work in this project with researchers about the physiological effects of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in acute exposure on the Eurasian perch: the importance of the biomarkers used and the exposure method.Within this project, I investigated several axes such as the physical impact of this chemical on the condition factor (CF) and the liver somatic index (LSI). The immune status was also evaluated with the complement system, lysozyme activity and the cell counting on blood smears. Finally, the oxidative stress axe was investigated with the glutathione-S-tranferase (GST), glutathion reductase (GR) and the catalase activity (CAT) measurements in the liver. Research skills: - Creation of new protocols- Protocol improvement- Fish exposure to chemicals by intraperitoneal injectionsLab skills:- Complement activity assay - Lysozyme activity assay- Catalase assay- Glutathione reductase assay (GR)- Glutathione-S-transferase assay (GST)- Blood taking in two different ways, adapted for big fish (blood smears and plasma), and small fish (for blood smears only)- Staining process for blood smears applied on perch and rainbow trout- Counting blood cells with a software on perch and rainbow trout- Homogenization of liver samples by ultrasonification for cytosolic and microsomal fractions Show less
