  I completed a 420 hour internship with the Norfolk Police Department working in their Crime Scene Unit. I went on many ride-alongs with the unit in order to process the crime scenes. I went to many different types of scenes including: burglaries, auto B &Es, robberies, suicides, terroristic acts, auto fatalities and batteries, etc. I helped process the scenes by dusting for fingerprints, helping with collection of the evidence as well as sketching.   Crime Scene Specialist

  I am responsible for responding to various types of crime scenes in order to process the scene. Many of the scenes include: homicides, suicides, burglaries, robberies, sexual assaults, auto fatalities, batteries etc. I take detailed notes of the scene as well as photograph and sketch the scene in order to produce a written report. I am also responsible for collecting and packaging each piece of evidence. Depending on the scene, I dust different surfaces for fingerprints using fingerprint powder. I do different types of evidence processing in the lab which includes: CAE fuming, ninhydrin and other chemical processes for fingerprints. If a sketch is created I later generate a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) on the computer from the original sketch. I testify as an expert witness on many of the scenes in which I processed. Show less
