      Legal Counsel

I was one of two lawyers on staff at Westland during which time I rapidly expanded my knowledge of dairy, sales and the manufacturing sector. I practiced across all other areas of the business including commercial, intellectual property, governance advisory, dispute resolution, intellectual property, resource management, local government and shareholder services. Westland in addition to producing commodity and B2B products, owns consumer brands Westgold and EasiYo, both of which have international product portfolios. I worked with these brands to review marketing collateral, packaging and marketing campaigns. I have had significant involvement in project work and have worked to help develop a contracting framework for our capital projects team. I also provided company secretarial services to Westland subsidiaries and joint ventures. This role required a high level of stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, pragmatism and a strong outcome focus. In addition to my general work, I had a significant involvement in the sale of Westland to the Yili dairy group. The sale meant managing a significant workload, adapting quickly to changing priorities and working closely with the wider business to help navigate the changes. I also worked on the introduction of new technologies / systems to support legal and contracting functions in the business. Show less
