      Dec 2019 - Dec 2020
      JCR President

As president of the undergraduate student body at St Hugh's College, Oxford, I was tasked with promoting student interests wherever they arose. Elected to the role by over 400 fellow students, I chaired a committee of representatives responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of student life. My personal responsibilities included: - Overseeing allocation of the JCR budget (~£60,000) and coordinating with the treasurer to ensure the money was spent appropriately. - Negotiating student rent for college accommodation. After lengthy negotiations, including the production of a counter-proposal, I secured a rent increase that was 33% lower than the college's proposal, saving the student body over £27,000. - Cooperating with College staff to plan and implement a return to university in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. - Representing the undergraduates on various college committees, including Finance Committee and the college's Governing Body.-Driving engagement with student politics and representation. We achieved multiple record-breaking turnouts at JCR meetings during my tenure. Show less
