Social Innovations improves the learning outcomes of children in no or low fee public schools. Schools are under pressure from the Department of Basic Education to deliver the curriculum. We don’t get in the way. Rather we offer sustained, branded programmes to supplement the learning that happens at school. It’s about building stronger bridges at times of academic transition, bringing fun and informal learning opportunities to school, and making good use of the time and space around the school day. It’s about the core school and the after school programmes working together. It’s about two parts making a greater whole. An independent evaluation has found that learners in our after school programmes improve their academic results while developing confidence, independence and a positive attitude to learning.
