  As a young and fresh professional I gained significant work experience, insight, and knowledge in regards to what powerful marketing is at Olson (now known as ICF).My internship served as an entry into what Marketing is. I was able to connect with numerous marketing professionals within Olson to learn about their background, roles, and projects; all of whom were incredibly knowledgeable and insightful. At Olson I became aware of the different roles and processes required to execute successful marketing campaigns. I learned how different teams operated to ensure the completion and success of their projects. Aspects required to deliver a great campaign required more than just creativity, it also requires a great deal of research, collaboration, planning, technical skills, and more. During my time at Olson I was assisted on a project called Humans of Olson. Inspired by the Facebook Page Humans of New York, Olivia Luterbach, another marketing intern, created the Humans of Olson project as a way to help Olson staff connect with one another within a large organization. We collected interviews with individuals weekly and displayed their name, roles, expertises, as well as some personable or fun information they shared into screens that were placed throughout the agency. This broaden Olson's access to each other in a personable yet informative way. I participated in Olson's annual North by Midwest social network event. The event featured leading marketing speakers and workshops designed to highlight new insights and future growth. My role included welcoming guests, managing tables, and assisting in any other necessary behind-the-scene work.Other tasks I worked on include:- Creating, updating, and organizing HR files; creating a file for new staff, updating information (ie. roles, bio, department, etc), or archiving old files.- Provided staff and departments with ease of access to resources aimed to create a healthy and productive work environment.   I worked as a first-point-of-contact for the TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) program at the University of Minnesota - Twin City. TRIO SSS is a federally funded program that helps students of disadvantaged backgrounds attend college.My main role was to assist staff members in their roles as well as being a source of information to anyone (students, other department staff, families, etc) who came through the TRIO SSS program. I pride myself in being a well-rounded source of information to students, staff, and guests in regards to campus life, academics, and other school-related subjects during my time there. Not only was I a valuable source of information, I also created a welcoming space thanks to my diverse cultural experiences/background. As part of my job, in a few summers I assisted academic advisers in helping incoming freshmen sign up for classes. I play a key role in ensuring that students feel welcomed by easing their worries with my own experience, resources, and suggestions. My job duties consisted of:- Assisting students in scheduling appointments with their academic advisor- Maintaining a welcoming, organized, and functional office- Assisting advisors in preparing class materials- Organizing and managing student files- Data entry Show less

  Marketing Communications Strategy Intern

  I interned with General Mill's Fruit by the Foot (FxF) marketing team to bring the brand to life on social media to better engage and resonate with its consumer base. I provided research and insight on the different social media platform, suggested practices it could implement, and helped FxF better define its brand.My work focused on increasing Fruit by the Foot's (FxF) social media presence and engagement in a consistent manner. After some analysis by the marketing lead, the brand was found to lack a well-defined and cohesive identity. FxF seemed to encompass too many personalities and values, in which some may not actually align with the brand, or what the brand should stand for. I performed a competitive analysis/overview of other successful snack brands on social media to gain insight on what are some best practices that the FxF brand could adopt or reform for its own use. The results confirmed a need for a well-defined brand. It also provided a guide on how FxF could better perform consistently in a manner that is true to its brand.In a small team I produced a social strategy to provide a more defined brand identity for the Fruit by the Foot brand based on its current consumer's values. I collected consumer engagement and feedback from their social media interactions and summarized that into a few guiding values/traits. This helped narrow the brand to a few but colorful and fitting values and attributes that would guide its presence on social media activity.I hosted a Weekly Teen Tuesday presentation to help FxF better engage and connect with its consumers on social media. Each presentation provided insight on consumer values, traits, and behaviors. It also focused on specific and trending topics that are relevant to the brand's consumers.   My internship with Media Garcia allowed me to gain insight on B2B digital service. The agency provides a variety of digital service ranging from web development, to social media management. Many of the client projects I worked on were products delivered to small businesses serving a number of consumers. During my time there I strengthened my understanding of what digital media is, and how it is used by businesses to implement better organizations, processes, and results. As Media Garcia is an avid user of HubSpot, Atlassian, and other applications/softwares I acquired the necessary skills to utilize various digital tools.I used HubSpots Customer Management Systems to keep track and update client list. In HubSpots Email Marketing system I created email marketing templates to assist in client acquisition and sustaining client relationships. While working in teams I learned how to use Atlassian to manage projects internally. I performed marketing research to produce Buyer Persona's for clients. This helped clients better understand the challenges, processes, and pain points of their consumers. The Buyer Persona's were then used to guide how clients can further increase their consumer base. I also did the same for the agency itself.I created relevant and valuable marketing content such as social media posts and blogs for the agency. This helped increase traffic to their site and creating more leads for the agency.   As an Associate Full Stack Engineer at Optum, I developed and improved web application features to give professional healthcare providers a better experience with their healthcare portals. In my role, I often identify, define, and execute tasks to accomplish and deliver features necessary for client success. I work closely with developers, scrum masters, TPOs, and architectures to ensure deliverables are executed correctly. In my role I not only program but also support my team members, whether it is help with debugging an issue or understanding new assignments. I also ensure code is tested for coverage and performance before handing off the solution or deployment.Daily, to name a few, I worked with the following technology: Microsoft Teams, Rally, NestJs, Angular, Springboot, Jenkins, SonarQube, Camunda, Postman, IntelliJ, VSCode, and GitHub. As someone who went through the rigerous application process and got accepted into the program, I enjoyed the challenge of learning a wide range of programming knowledge and skills within a short span of time. To name a few technologies and languages learned, the program trained us in Angular, RxJS, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, Typescript, Springboot, Java, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Github.
